The Director of Development, Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing, is a fundraising professional who plays a critical role in implementing the fundraising campaign and vision for the School. Reporting directly to the Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Advancement and working under the strategic direction of the Dean, the Director of Development ensures that all fundraising efforts align with the School's goals and priorities. The Director will collaborate closely with the Senior Executive Director of Development, Health Advancement, to execute these strategies, securing philanthropic investments that support the School’s mission. This role requires a high degree of coordination with both the Dean and University Advancement to achieve fundraising objectives. The Director of Development’s effectiveness will be evaluated on their ability to achieve financial goals and meet metrics and they will be expected to be a highly collaborative colleague with other development officers on the Health Advancement team and across the campus.

Requirements

Required:

Advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts.
Advanced organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance / resolution, and strong project management skills.
Very strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials.
Ability to work independently with both school and institutional goals in mind.
Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce or a comparable donor/prospect database system.
Demonstrable experience in stewardship plans leading to additional investments.
Clarity of focus while juggling complex projects and/or deadlines. Ability to meet demanding work schedule expectations.
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years professional fundraising experience in higher education, preferably in an academic medical setting.
A minimum of five years' successful professional development and/or fundraising-related experience, preferably in higher education, OR, any equivalent combinations of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred:

Advanced working knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and / or throughout higher education / healthcare generally. Advanced working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Special Conditions:

May work long hours to accommodate events and after hours meetings
Local, regional, and national travel is required.
