At Hudson Valley Hospice, our mission is to serve the people of Dutchess and Ulster counties by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life.
We are a private, not-for-profit health-care agency dedicated to helping individuals who are near the end of life maintain their dignity and enhance the quality of life.
Not only do we care for the patient, but we also care for the family. By providing physical, spiritual and emotional support, our professional and volunteer staff will help family members through this challenging time.
Company History
Hudson Valley Hospice is here to help when individuals in Dutchess and Ulster Counties are faced with a life-limiting illness. For more than 35 years, Hudson Valley Hospice has provided a wide range of programs and services for the patient and their loved ones that go beyond Medicare hospice requirements. These distinctive and specialized services are currently taking place in the home, nursing facilities and area hospitals, wherever a patient calls home.
Our specially trained interdisciplinary team comprised of physicians, hospice certified nurses, home health aides, social workers, music therapists, chaplains, grief and bereavement specialists, end of life doulas and volunteers come together to support the patient and their loved ones, offering programs, services and treatments that address comfort, pain and symptom management, spiritual care and grief and bereavement support, all designed to enhance the quality of life during a patient’s final months and weeks and support their loved ones. Hospice care is a benefit provided under Medicare Part A, Medicaid, Veterans Administration benefits, and most commercial insurance plans. Through the generosity of the community to our Foundation, financial assistance may also be available to cover the cost of hospice care.
Hudson Valley Hospice is a proud Level 5 member of the We Honor Veterans program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the Department of Veterans Affairs. We are so very proud to serve our Veterans, who along with their families, have sacrificed for all of us.
Hudson Valley Medical Health Choices, a community based palliative practice that focuses on the needs of the patient, not on their prognosis. This type of care is vital to providing relief from the symptoms and stress of an illness, with a goal of improving the quality of life for both the patient and their loved ones.
But it is the passion and compassion of the people who work at Hudson Valley Hospice that is truly our mark of distinction, all of whom have what we refer to as a “Hospice Heart.” We have a proven track record and the understanding, specialized skills and knowledge necessary to ensure that all of the end of life needs of our community are met through a full constellation of compassionate care options.
