Company Profile

REMSA

Company Overview

Since its inception in 1986, REMSA (Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority) has been a non-profit community service. REMSA has dramatically improved the quality and responsiveness of emergency services in the Truckee Meadows for over 28 years.

REMSA has grown from a company of 50 employees in 1986 to over 420 in 2015. With its growth, REMSA has become an integral part of the Health Care community, not just an ambulance/helicopter service. One of the major reasons for REMSA's success is that, over the past 28 years, we have been flexible and adaptive to the changing health care environment. Our emergency medical system (EMS) is constantly undergoing fine-tuning and review. High quality equipment, continuing education, certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers and national recognition make REMSA one of the best-known EMS systems in the nation.

With the large population growth seen in Nevada since REMSA's inception, the Reno-Sparks area has seen phenomenal expansion during the same period. REMSA continues to meet the challenge of providing the highest quality Advanced Life Support with the fastest response times possible, at the lowest competitive price.

Company History

REMSA was created in 1986, as at that time the ambulance service in Washoe County was in chaos.

-Multiple providers operating, two in bankruptcy
-Poor patient care, poor response times to critical emergencies, poor equipment, poor quality, high rates
-No oversight or accountability for patient care, quality or rates

A new system was obviously needed so a blue ribbon commission was formed and REMSA was created. Washoe County, the City of Reno and the City of Sparks all participated in REMSA's formation and evaluation criteria.

This new regional system was designed with multiple accountabilities to assure excellent patient care, medical quality and financial performance.
REMSA's Regional System Design Guarantees:
-Strict response time requirements and performance
-Every ambulance staffed at paramedic level
-Most advanced medical equipment
-Multiple levels of independent expert oversight to insure accountability
-Public safeguards to insure continued service if performance is not met, the ambulance provider can be replaced
-Provides high performance ambulance services with NO TAX SUBSIDY
-Not for profit community service

REMSA has an all-volunteer (no compensation) Board of Directors.

Benefits

Our competitive compensation and benefits programs are designed to attract, retain and motivate exceptional individuals. REMSA was named one of the top companies to work for by the Nevada Business Journal, in part because of our outstanding benefits package. Our benefits package meets a wide variety of employee needs.
