Skilled Wound Care is a subsidiary of Skilled Facility Health Care Solutions, Inc., a professional medical corporation, incorporated in 2007, that has been delivering advanced professional services in the Long Term Care Arena with a focus on cost-effective patient care and increased patient satisfaction.
Company History
Helping people gain access to the care they needed (but couldn’t always get to themselves) became an early passion for Dr. Bardia Anvar.
He was a staff general surgeon in a Los Angeles hospital, and he remembered waiting in the operating lounge for his next laparoscopic cholecystectomy to begin. It occurred to him that there was a group of people in a nursing home right across the street who were, in their own way, underserved in the area of wound care. At that time - 2007 - nursing home wound care patients were an almost entirely unserved population but he thought he might be able to help. He started helping out, and he remembered his first major breakthrough: a patient named Mr “Rivera,” (name changed for privacy reasons) who had a large wound on his sacrum but couldn’t leave the facility to get the treatment he needed. Dr. Anvar figured, if the patient can’t leave the facility, maybe he can help him right here. He decided to try performing bedside debridements to clean and freshen his wound and he was thrilled to see it respond. Every week, he came to check on Mr. Rivera, and before long, his wound had rapidly improved. From then on, he started getting calls to look at other patients, and at other facilities, to help with their wounds, and that’s how the Skilled Wound Care practice started.
Skilled Wound Care has grown tremendously over the years, and now, we have an entire physician group that treats thousands of patients a week in nursing homes throughout the United States.
